You want to be able to clean a window or glass door until it has a perfect shine? If you do, here we will offer you just a few easy tips that will be very helpful to you. By following this  easy-to-follow video, you can learn how to do it yourself and save money on your window-cleaning bill.

Step 1: The items you will need:

1 bucket or bow
1 pair rubber gloves
some washing up liquid
some warm water
some black & white newspaper
some Clear household vinegar
1 window cleaning wiper
1 window cleaning washer

Step 2: The weather

First of all, check what’s the weather outside. Is it sunny? If you are going to clean windows, you should choose to do it on a cloudy day. That’s because the sun will dry your cleaning solution too quickly, and leave streaks of dried solution which is not very pleasant.

Step 3: The preparation

You have two options. The solutions with vinegar or soap are both effective when used for the cleaning of windows. You may even want  to use the one solution after the other to really get the shininess you really want.

We recommend you to put on some rubber gloves, to protect your hands.

For the soap solution, mix  a little liquid tfor washing up with a half a bucket of warm water. This mixture may seem to you simple, but many professional window cleaners clean with it. The washing up liquid makes the window slippery, so you can gather the dirt without scratching the glass.

For the vinegar solution, mix a lavish amount of clear vinegar with a bucket of warm water. The vinegar gives a real sheen to the window, and prevents streaking.

Step 4: Start with outside first

You should start first by cleaning the outdoor side of your window. Collect all your equipment together so you won’t have to go indoors again during your cleaning.

Step 5: Use a sponge

Here we are using a special window washer like this. The handle makes the cleaning easy. However, you can use also a natural sponge. The manifactured sponges are very abrasive to  clean glass properly, and do not absorb as much as the natural sponges.

Dip the window washer in the solution you have chosen. Use the same technique  for wiping for all cleaning solutions.

Wipe over the window by doing  up and down and side to side motion, and in this way try to remove as much dirt as you can.

Step 6: Wiping

You can  use a car wiper blade  to clean the window. By applying an even light pressure, move the wiper blade from one side of the window to the other. Clean the blade with a cloth. Then repeat this motion, this time overlapping the previous stroke. Continue in this way until the window is completely dry.

If you don’t have a car window wiper, find some old black and white newspaper. Crease a few sheets, and rub them against the glass in a circular motion until the glass is shiny like new one. Newspaper with coloured print will not work as well, and may even transfer colour onto the window. However, you should not take those gloves off because black and white newspaper can also colour your hands with ink.

Step 7: The inside window

Before you start to clean, prevent the floor area from dripping by putting old newspaper around the window area.

As before, use the window washer to clean the windows with the vinegar mixture  or washing up liquid. When you’re ready, wipe the window with the plastic blade.

When you cleaned down the outside window with the plastic blade, you wiped horizontally, from side to side. When you wipe the indoor window, move the wiper vertically, from the  bottom to the top. This way, if there are any streaks left, you can guess which side of the window they are on.

Step 8: Make your work better

When the windows have dried, see whether there are any remaining smears of cleaning solution or dirt. If you do find any, rumple a sheet of black and white newspaper. Rub it against the smear and soom the glass will be spotless.
